So you're thinking of hosting a drumming workshop! Here is some information which will help you
in designing just the right workshop for you.

|
1. Size of Workshop: Any number of folks from can participate, but a common number is between 12 and
25. We will need enough space to sit in a circle (armless chairs preferred). Of course, there can be no
limitation on noise.
2. Type of Workshop: If it is a drumming workshop, then it's best if every participant has a drum. If I drive to your location, I can supply about 25 drums (congas and djembes). If the class is larger than that, there
are other options available to us.
I also put on a workshop called, "Rhythm in You - How to Find It, Feel It, Keep It" in which no
drums or instruments are necessary. We use our voices, our bodies, stuff in our pockets, "found" percussion
(bottles of vitamins, boxes of paper clips, you name it) … and we still learn a lot, create some really exciting
music and have a ball!
|
3. Length of Workshop: I strongly recommend a minimum of 1-1/2 hours. Two to 4 hours is even better (especially for out-of-town workshops). All-day workshops (6 hours and up) are the best in terms of really
learning the material.
Workshops can be one day only (usually Saturday or Sunday), or last two days, as on a weekend.
If we were to do a weekend work-shop, a sample schedule might be 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday (less 1-
1/2 hrs. for lunch and two breaks) & 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, for a total of about 8 hours class time.
4. Cost: This is affected by many factors, including how far I have to travel, duration of workshop and
number of participants. Please call for rates.
5. Lodging: If I have to stay overnight, sponsor provides lodging for me.
6. Expenses: I will reimburse any expenses incurred in advertising the workshop. In exchange for their
support, the sponsor takes the workshop free and will also receive some nice gifts from me to help them on
their drumming path.
7. Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 20% of my fee, usually due at least 2 weeks before the event (it
might be estimated at that point), is required. The balance is due on the date of the workshop.
The foregoing is not set in stone. I offer customized workshops, and am happy to discuss all details. Thank
you for thinking of me, and may the Spirit of the Drum be with you.
Yours in Rhythm,
Simone LaDrumma
P.S. I also put on workshops in my home studio in Seattle, which holds about 17 participants. Call for those rates.
